Coster was an inquisitive and bold boy growing up in Calanis, Shahalesti. He spent most of his youth working as a messenger and taskrunner to make money for his family so that they could keep their household in a neighborhood above the family station. When he wasn’t working he oft spent time exploring caves, caverns and ruins nearby the city outskirts with his older brother, and became quite deft at climbing and recognizing the hazards of natural and man-made origin.
Coster’s happy childhood ended at age 34 when his brother was accused and imprisoned for a theft he didn’t commit. This displaced his family from their homestead and caused his brother to become unhappy and unhelpful. It is well known that the theft was performed by the captain of the watch’s own nephew, but nothing could change the circumstances.
After a few years Coster’s parents pleaded with him to leave and seek a life of his own where he would not have the blot on his family honor. He left begrudgingly, hoping to some day bring wealth and fame back to his family.
Recently Coster received a message from his father regarding concern for his son Relinor. A few months ago Relinor left home to make way to the free city of Gate’s pass, but noone has heard from him in some time. His father explains that a major conflict is emerging in the free city of Gate’s Pass, and that the city operates as a deterrant to war and conflict as long as the city remains free, however, should the city be contolled by a single nation or warring faction, there would be little to convince those in power to keep the peace. In an attempt to redeem himself, Relinor told his father that he has decided to join the free cities Resistance movement, hoping that he could have a fresh start. The family is concerned for Relinor, and Coster is hoping that he can help Relinor in some way, and decides to travel to Gate’s Pass to find him.
