2-9 Trouble with Tiljann

After a short rest, wisps of song emerge from the ever-present roar of the forest fire.

Wisps of song emerge from the ever-present roar of the forest fire. Sung in a mournful minor key, but with a discordant trace of hope in the voice, the aural melody sounds like something from the swallowing depths of an endless dream. For a moment you think you see images of tragedy and history at the edge of your vision, but then your attention snaps back to the real world as you realize the song is real, and its singer close.

“Looks like we won’t have time to find a proper place to hide, unless you are skilled at that sort of thing. Do what cha can and hope we can talk some sense into who ever is comeing.”

The song comes from the North East, where the terrain slopes steeply down to the White River. Soon a young woman who has deep, vivid eyes full of fey mystery and cautious curiosity, tops out. She is emaciated, as if she has never had a full meal in her life, and light leather armor clings to her waifish body. Dark red hair floats around her shoulders, and faintly glistening wings twitch behind her back, withered like a dragonfly that got too close to a flame.

At first she doesn’t notice you, as she appears to be absent mindlessly singing her song (the language is sylvan, btw). She quickly brushes herself off, looks up, and finally sees your group. For a moment you think you see a look of hope, twinkle in her eyes.

Because she knows the power of music, Jankain does not immediately speak. Instead she begins to play a lively tune on her lyre and watches the newcomer carefully for her reaction.

Digi heard the fey woman sing this line, “So as we were born from the First Tree, so as from our homeland’s breast was cut a living blade, as this our lives are bound to thee, the forest’s heart in Timbre’s glade.”

A smile escapes the fey woman’s lips when Jankain play’s her lively tune. She hails the party and approaches.

In Sylvan, Finn says “Hello there lass, now that was a nice song ya were sing’n. Me name is Finnwick Throkenderhausen, at your service” and makes a little bow.

“These are dangerous woods, but ya know more about that than we do, I’m sure. How long have yer been here? How have you survied?”
